Paxman Model 40L Descant Horn

This used Paxman Model 40L descant horn serial number 7862 built in 1986. The valves are original and in great condition. The horn maintains a high level of compression for the age, it does not show signs of needing a valve job anytime soon with continued maintenance. This brass horn has a Paxman large bell throat and has a stopping valve with extensions to tune down to A. (Bb side only) The horn has a nice free blowing feel with a rich warm overtone structure. The detachable bell flare is original with original Paxman ring. Dimes on the levers improve ergonomics, as well as the addition of a Clebsch strap. Some small dings and dents are present, but nothing that is critical to how well this horn plays.

This horn comes with an original Paxman black briefcase style detachable bell case with burgundy plush lining. The case has room for a mute and mouthpieces inside.
