Specs for this horn:

yellow brass, fixed bell, original case, traditional string linkage, lacquer, gold brass lead pipe, water key on lead pipe.  This horn is in very good condition with slight damage on the bell wire, and a few minor dents around the pinky hook.  The horn plays very well, has been ultrasonically cleaned.  I have worked on the valves to eliminate extra endplay and sideplay.  The horn is now mechanically sound and will offer the student a great instrument to enhance his/her studies.  Click on pic to see this horn.

Model:  Reynolds Pottag

Serial Number: 63249

Used Price:  $2595.00

Specs for this horn:

This authentic yellow brass Reynolds Pottag is in fantastic shape!  At some point in recent history this horn was completely overhauled and the lacquer job was very well done but they left the valves in tough shape.  We have taken out the side-play, end-play of the valves and ultrasonically cleaned the instrument and it plays very well indeed.  This horn dates to 1961, bearing the RMC shield, signifying that Richards Music owned Reynolds.  (Thanks to www.contemporacorner.com)

Model:  Reynolds Chambers

Serial Number: 78382

Used Price:  $1495.00

Specs for this horn:

This is the Reynolds Chambers Model FE-01.  The serial number dates this horn sometime between the end of 1963 to the beginning of 1964.  The horn is made in Cleveland, Ohio, just before the company moved operations to Abilene, Texas.  The bell engraving does not state Chambers on it, as it is built after the Chambers/Reynolds contract had ended.  The horn is made of Nickel Silver with a large throat bell.  The bell throat was damaged at some point but was repaired before coming to our shop.  This horn has been ultrasonically cleaned, end-play and side-play have been removed, and the valves are smooth and quiet.  The reach for this horn is quite large for smaller hands, but the possibilities of a custom fit are available.  The horn maintains an authentic sound quality for the age.  No lacquer remains and there are small dings and dents throughout.  We have taken out any major dents but in order to keep the price down on the instrument, some dings still remain.  We believe that the horn can offer the necessary tools to a beginner, or a nice horn to collectors for nostalgia.

Specs for this horn:

This is a nickel silver Pottag Model made by the Roth-Reynolds Instrument Company in Cleveland, Ohio dated around 1948.  The horn is in fantastic condition for the age.  There are areas that have worn lacquer off, but this horn hasn’t suffered any major dents.  The throat of the bell area was slightly crimped, but it came out beautifully.  The valves have no end or side play, they hold good compression.  I believe this horn sat in a closet for a very, very long time.  All slides work smoothly.  The horn has a robust tone color, with the effervescence of that great vintage sound.  Includes original Case.
