The 182 double french horn is a completely new design that incorporates the medium large bell of the 180 series with a more open wrap similar to that of Kruspe style horns. As always, Dieter Otto attacks design in a very unique way. Notice the placement of the Bb independent tuning slide. This position not only aids intonation, but is a very quick way to dump water from the horn.

The Model 182 double french horn has a very open feel with an 11.83 mm bore. The instrument is completely hand made and incorporates the newest valves available from Meinlschmidt. The valves have a special oil channel that effectively disperses the oil to the bearings. The horn has string linkage with a mechanical thumb valve that is reversible. Options available include: yellow brass, gold brass, nickel silver, adjustable finger hook, adjustable flipper (hand rest) detachable bell, lacquer.
