In the fall of 2006, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Dürk decided to develop the LDx6 Bb/F descant horn.  Now in 2008, the production model is finished, and will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Musik Messe in Germany.  The horn has received accolades from those who have tested it, saying that it is the best descant horn they have ever played.  I believe that this model may very well replace the draw some players have away from a descant to a triple horn.  Other comments we have heard is that it’s sound is like a completely full “double horn” quality of sound that extends into the high horn, yet with a light crisp response.  This tells me that it would be great for both heavy and light playing.

LDx6

Design features: long lead pipe design, independent tuning system, mechanical stop valve and exchange valve, string linkage for 1st, 2nd, 3rd valves, detachable bell, yellow brass, hand-lapped and machine honed slides.

Available options are: fixed bell, gold brass body, F-extension, lacquer, Adjustable finger-hook, adjustable flipper (hand-rest)
